Personality[]

Keiun was a man who had a blood thirsty passion for weapons and believed that he could bring out the true capabilities of every weapon he used. From Gabimaru's perspective, his love for weapons can be seen as being perverted. He was ruthless and cunning, as he came up with the idea of slaughtering the criminals sent to Kotaku so he can take his time searching for the Elixir of Life.

History[]

Past[]

While undergoing training as a sōhei, Keiun developed an obsession for weapons and armor and decided upon himself to take his training to the next level by slaughtering martials artists, including well-known master swordsmen, and building up a collection of weapons that he stole from them, which led to him being branded as a criminal.[3] He was eventually arrested by the authorities and was given the death penalty, however, Keiun was offered by Yamada Asaemon Kishō a chance to be pardon for his crimes if he were to complete a mission that required him to venture to an island believed to be Shinsenkyō that is said to possess the Elixir of Life and return back with it for the shogun to consume. Having favored this option, Keiun agreed to participate.

Island Arc[]

Upon agreeing to the mission, Keiun is taken to a gathering spot where other death row criminals are interested in joining the expedition. After they were told to start a massacre until only a few were available to leave for the island, Keiun becomes one out of the ten criminals to survive and is assigned Yamada Asaemon Kishō as his monitor.

Gabimaru kills Keiun

Gabimaru kills Keiun.

Soon after arriving on the island, Keiun encounters Gabimaru and attempted to kill him with a surprise attack from one of his weapons in order to eliminate the competition. However, he sees that the shinobi survived after he dislocated his neck at will and gets annoyed when Gabimaru chooses to ignore him. He then commences his attack on Gabimaru by using weapon after weapon until he notices that the ninja had not suffer any damage while mainly focusing on tying his hands as commanded by his Asaemon earlier. After finishing with his bothersome task, Gabimaru lifts Keiun using his spear and kicks the bladed weapon towards his chest. Keiun manages to survive the lethal blow after revealing that he had armor grafted to his skin underneath his robes and tells Gabimaru that he will "teach" him how to properly utilize a weapon. Moments later, Gabimaru had killed Keiun with a dozen of his weapons that had pierced his Living Armor. Kishō then decapitated the deceased monk's head as proof to the shogun that Keiun is dead and prepares to return to Edo.

As an infamous death row convict, Keiun was deemed too dangerous of an individual to be left alive.
