Chapter 48 of the Jigokuraku manga.
Summary[]
Tōma is unable to land an attack on Gantetsusai and is hit repeatedly. Gantetsusai says that Tōma is weak because he relies on his brother to fight his battles and how it would have been wise to team up with his group. Tōma tells him that his brother has no interest in teaming up with them and says that he hates alliances after remembering his father’s past. He then tells him that he sees himself as an extension of his brother and orders the Dōshi to attack Fuchi and Mei but Fuchi stands by to guard her. Seeing as how he is being overpowered, Gabimaru ignites his body and focus solely on killing Chōbei. He uses Ninpō: Hi no Hashi and Ninpō: Ikari Tsubute to bring Chōbei down and get on top to incinerate him along with himself. Chōbei becomes surprise that Gabimaru is willing to sacrifice himself. Gabimaru explains that as a ninja his life did not matter, and he had nothing to live for. He sees that Chōbei clings on to life to be alongside his brother and tells him that he will not be victorious because of this. Hearing this, Chōbei thanks Gabimaru for realizing his resolve to be beside his brother if it meant giving up everything he had. He then begins to transform and loses himself.
