Summary[]
Mei asks Gui Fa as to what they meant by Rien's true goal. Using their Tao illusion ability, Gui Fa shows Mei and Yuzuriha as to what they saw in Rien's laboratory, revealing that they found a hidden room with clones of Rien looking after a mysterious crippled figure in a bed, who Mei assumes is Jofuku. A sudden noise then breaks them out of the illusion. Gui Fa explains that the noise came from Rien setting sail after having dealt with Shugen. Despite the circumstance, Mei asks Gui Fa to continue with her explanation on Jofuku's plans. Gui Fa tells Mei that they are making an incorrect assumption, revealing that their master had already died and had been turned into a gold statue in order for his body to be preserved after undergoing Arborification. Gui Fa then tells Mei and Yuzuriha that Rien's true goal is to revive Jofuku using the Tao of the citizens of Japan. Knowing that Jofuku was already dead, Mei asks (while speaking in Chinese) Gui Fa who was the Hōko that they found. Gui Fa reveals that the person was actual the real body of Rien, the wife of Jofuku who had created puppets of the Rien they are familiar with after undergoing Arborification a long time ago. Meanwhile on the ship, the Rien puppet walks up and tearfully embraces the statue of Jofuku while begging for her husband to come back to her. Gui Fa comments on Rien's approach as being foolish and starts to criticize the notion of love humans have. They then finally tells them that within two hours Rien will reach Japan to initiate their plan, shocking both Mei and Yuzuriha.
