Summary[]

Sagiri uses her Tao sensory to anticipate Shija's attack on her but is unable to react on time to their speed and is taken down. She then resorts to using a ninja powder to have Shija pull back. Shija asks Sagiri why she is allied with Gabimaru despite her job of being only a monitor. Sagiri says that despite her previous willingness to follow orders she now has learn that it is possible to sympathize with others such as the Tensens, Gabimaru, and even Iwagakure. After hearing this statement, Shija restrains Sagiri and says that they will allow her to share the same experience as them by having Sagiri inhale the ninja powder they tried to use on them earlier. They explain that the powder is meant to have the victim experience an overwhelming sensation of pain and is used in the training of young Iwagakure children, which results in only a few surviving. As they prepare to give Sagiri another drug, Shija tells her that Iwagakure are trained to become immune to them and expresses the village's only desire to feel is death, which they explain that Gabimaru was the one that gave them the sensation when they first met. With his body suffering and his Tao depleted, as well as Sagiri being unable to combat against Shija, Gabimaru finds their chances at victory becoming slimmer. Shija asks Gabimaru why he is desperately clinging to life, to which he answers that he desires to live a normal life with his wife. Shija tells Gabimaru that his wish can not come to pass since Iwagakure will remain in pursuit of him and his wife does not exist. However, Gabimaru denies what Shija is saying and tries to buy time to recover his Tao and present an opening for Sagiri. Shija sees through his scheme and pleads to Gabimaru to come to his senses as they try to explain that his wife and the life he shared with her is false.
