Jigokuraku Wiki

Bandit, Aza Tōma's Infiltration Journal (盜賊・亜左桐馬潜入記 Tōzoku Aza Tōma Sennyūki?) is a manga-omake included in Volume 4 and Volume 5.

Volume 4[]

Part 1[]

After becoming a new member of the Yamada Dōjō, Eizen introduces Tōma to the clan's other members.

Part 2[]

Tōma listens to Eizen's explanation about the duties of the Yamada clan and their standing with the government; explaining that, despite their important role as blade testers, they receive no benefits from the government since they do not plead loyalty to the shogun. While listening, Tōma thinks to himself that Eizen is too talkative and sees him as less of a leader than his brother.

Tōma's Notes: The Yamada Asaemon are the dogs of the shogunate, but their blade skills are the genuine article.

Part 3[]

Tōma listens as Shion explains how the members of the Yamada clan are in pursuit of strengthening their blade-testing skills, which determines an Asaemon's ranking and their qualifications for becoming the head of the clan. While explaining, Tenza constantly asks Shion if he could do anything to help but is told by him to continue with his training. While listening, Tōma starts to think that Shion is becoming cautious of him.

Tōma's Notes: The rankings aren't purely about skill. They're decided based on one's suitability to become the next leader.

Part 4[]

Tōma listens to Sagiri's explanation on how the Yamada clan are well-versed in poetry and prepares to read a poem she made to welcome him. While listening, Tōma thinks to himself that he is in an odd situation.

Tōma's Notes: As part of their training, the Yamada Asaemon become amateur poets.

Part 5[]

Tōma listens to Fuchi's passionate explanation on the Asayamagan he crafted.

Tōma's Notes: I believe at first that they were a straitlaced unit, but clearly some of them are quite unhinged.

Part 6[]

Tōma listens to Kishō's and Genji's explanation on how the Yamada clan cut off pinky fingers of corpses to sell to women during the night; the reason being that they want to show their affection to their lover but are hesitant to cut off their own. Tōma then states to himself in his mind that he has no interest in those types of women.

Tōma's Notes: Given all these additional sources of income, the Yamada clan holds more wealth than I expected.

Volume 5[]

Part 1[]

Tōma spies on a conversation between Sagiri, Senta, and Fuchi. While holding his dango, Fuchi speaks his mind on which anatomical parts of the body he finds are his favorites. Sagiri tells him that she found the topic to be strange but oddly finds herself accepting it. Senta also comments on how the topic was strange and suggests that he eat his food. Sagiri is then offered by Fuchi a chance to observe his dissections and replies that her answer may change from initially being "no" based on what she has heard so far.

Part 2[]

Tōma spies on Genji, and Kishō giving Tenza advice on how he should act around women. This catches Jikka's attention and thinks that Tenza is prepared to go on a "naught escapade", which causes him disagree in panic.

Part 3[]

Tōma spies on Shion talking to Eizen about the nice weather their currently in.

Part 4[]

After finishing his investigation on the members of the Yamada clan, Tōma branches together a relationship chart and gives it to Chōbei to review as their counterstrategy against the clan. However, due to not knowing who each member looks like, Chōbei found the chart to be useless and rips it up, much to Tōma's disappointment.
